Ms. Pan Jun addressed the event on behalf of Beijing Royal Charity Foundation. Besides elaborating on the significance of education for international understanding for a nation and an individual, Ms. Pan Jun analyzed challenges of the promotion and popularization of education for international understanding in China posed by regional and urban-rural gap and its future development opportunities in China. At the end, she stressed that the seed of education for international understanding has been sown in China and the torch has been passed around among education idealists. The coordination between government, schools and private institutions can safeguard the steady and long-term progress of education for international understanding, among which private institutions play an essential role. Education for international understanding is not only a national campaign, but also an important matter concerning the whole society. As a non-profit organization, behind each action lies our social ideals and we strive to serve the country and the society.
Mr. Wang Guangfa, Chairman of Fazheng Group and Founder of Beijing Royal Charity Foundation, provided his comments and interpretation on the report. He said, benefiting from vast pragmatic work done by Beijing Royal Charity Foundation, Research Institute of International Education South-South Cooperation and Center for China and Globalization (CCG), we have gained valuable experience in the domestication of education for international understanding in China by combining theories with practices. Developing education for international understanding resonates with the requirement of viewing Chinese tradition, culture and history through the international lens. By centering on global affairs and responding to global changes, we encourage the development of education for international understanding to further enable cultural interconnectivity.
As the pioneer in education for international understanding at home, Fazheng Group and Beijing Royal Charity Foundation have launched China’s first charity project “Teenagers’ International Vision as Future Ambassadors” in 2017 that focuses on education for international understanding. By integrating education for international understanding into cultivating future compound talents, we take industrialization as the platform to explore new development patterns of education for international understanding, with joint efforts by government, think tanks, schools and enterprises. This project was jointly launched by representatives from United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), UN Women, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education. On the premise that the relevant theories were still being explored domestically, we managed to produce the first thorough research report and published it during the first Forum for World Education held at the end of 2019, which marked the beginning of systemic research on education for international understanding by domestic charity organizations. It also marked the first China’s non-profit organization showcasing China’s progress in education for international understanding at an international conference and also the first China’s private organization being heard in international community.
