The Online Summit Forum on "Future Prospects of U.S.-China Education Cooperation" was held on January 16, organized by China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) Study Abroad Service Branch, and hosted by Research Institute of International Education South-South Cooperation. The forum invited former government officials, scholars and experts in the field of education, who have long been committed to Sino-U.S. educational exchanges, to attend and was broadcast online via Baidu Live and Weibo Live in both Chinese and English. A number of mainstream educational media outlets, including China Education Television and China Daily, also provided news coverage of the event, which focused on what the future holds for U.S.-China educational cooperation.
Mr. Wang Guangfa, Principal of Beijing Royal School, attended and delivered the keynote speech, expressing optimism and full confidence in the basic development of education in China and the United States. He suggested that both countries maintain a competitive edge, while also continuing to develop openness to sharing in the spirit of true academia. He also voiced his belief that both countries should strive to find potential fields of development, in which to cooperatively work in future. Principal Wang Guangfa and participating experts shared their views on what the future trend of cooperation in education between China and the U.S. holds for students and also answered people's concerns about hot topics, such as study abroad and visa issues.
Experts not only analyzed related education policies, but they also explained in detail the current educational challenges and opportunities facing both countries. This underlines a shared foundation of public opinion regarding the need to promote deeper communication, where East meets West in a shared understanding and need: In this new era—post-COVID—official and private sectors in education can rejuvenate friendly relations between China and the United States. The experts' discussion also resonated with the online audience, providing new ideas for the layout of international education in the post-epidemic era.
