On April 9, the "3rd China and Global Roundtable Forum" hosted by China and the Globalization Think Tank (CCG) was held at the China World Hotel in Beijing. Wang Guangfa, chairman of Fazheng Group, made a speech on "How to establish a talent system with international competitiveness", as a guest speaker for the sub-forum of the "China Global Talent Strategy in the New Era" .
Former deputy director of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, former secretary general of Boao Forum for Asia, and CCG Chairman, Long Yongtu; former vice minister of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, former deputy director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council and CCG Co-chair, He Yafei; CCG director, consultant of the State Council, and vice president of the Western Returned Scholars Association, Wang Huiyao; and other leaders, experts, scholars and entrepreneurs attended the forum.
The theme of this forum was "Globalization at the Crossroad: China's Challenges and Opportunities". Six sub-forums focused on how to better promote the process of globalization under the new situation, how to better exert China's active role in global governance, how to promote “The Belt and Road” initiative in China and the new global pattern of Chinese companies going global.
As the senior vice chairman of CCG, Wang Guangfa stated that the current competition for talents is the most important competition. It is related to the stability of the status of a country and the development of industrial structure and science and technology in the future. "No matter what kind of talents and competition mechanisms we have, they will be invalid if education falls behind.”
In terms of talent competition and talent introduction, China is trying to break through various mechanisms and systems, and adopt multiple modes of introduction andtraining. From now on, we must look to the future, train talents for the next 20 years, and position China's standards to be adopted by the world, so that China can become the real "going global" standard. Only this can really be called education.
China is facing the challenge of globalization, but not all parties have formed a consensus in response. The strategy of a globalized talented people, implemented by the state, can truly allow the society to form a mainstream consensus only by starting with education.
At present, China's global talent strategy has reached a turning point. The phase of attracting talented people to the country has already passed. In the future, there may be situations in which large numbers of talents work in international organizations or overseas organizations and companies related to China.
Therefore, in the process of globalization, China needs to create a better environment for talented people and break the boundaries of national borders so that talents from all countries can truly play a role in China's globalization. Wang Guangfa first put forward the concept of "talent PPP" in the forum. He thinks that talents can keep playing a role for our country and contributing to his responsibilities no matter where they are. We must break through the prohibition of international high-end talent introduction and training mechanisms, speed up the promotion of talent training standards, talent training mechanisms, talent introduction mechanisms and talent construction mechanisms, wherein education will play a decisive role.
"Hundreds of thousands of children go abroad to study each year. Because of the popularity of young people studying abroad, the gap in education between China and other countries shall be found." When answering questions from Global Times reporters at the forum site, Wang Guangfa thought that this phenomenon shows that our education is undergoing reforms, and also shows that there is still a difference between China's and foreign education systems’ training of high-end talents with international perspectives and global competitiveness at present.
At present, students with a certain economic foundation can choose the mode of receiving education through the form of studying abroad so that they can meet the standards of a globalized and talented person with an international perspective. Driven by this idea, what he can do is to seek better education.
It is gratifying that the reform of the internationalization of the national basic education is advancing at an accelerating pace, and the course reform in the cultivation of the international talents for higher education is also underway. Gradually, when Chinese education is fully integrated with the education of internationally developed countries, teaching, teaching methods, teaching materials and professional fields match with advanced educational concepts, and students are given positive energy through comparative and critical thinking, the problem of the popularity of China's students going overseas will be easily solved.
